My experience at HSS was excellent on every level. I’d been struggling with pretty bad hip arthritis for many months, and when the COVID-19 pandemic began in March, unfortunately my pain became much more severe. I was really afraid of the prospect of surgery, but by June I realized there really was no alternative. Based on the recommendations of several friends, I began to look for a surgeon at HSS. I was incredibly fortunate to be able to get an appointment quickly with Dr. McLawhorn. From the moment I walked into the hospital for my first appointment with him, I was treated with kindness and professionalism by absolutely everyone I encountered. Lucky for me, Dr. McLawhorn had a surgical opening a few weeks later. All of my appointments at HSS went smoothly, on time, and everyone I encountered was terrific. Dr. McLawhorn was calming, professional, kind, and made me feel extremely relaxed and confident in the decision to undergo hip replacement surgery. My experience of surgery as well as the entire one-night hospital stay was phenomenal. All my anxiety was relieved from the moment I arrived. My recovery has been amazing, and I have my life back. I love to travel, and feared that I would be limited with that because of pain. Now, six weeks after surgery, I’m off to visit my son in Maryland this weekend, and my daughter in California next month. Europe is back on the calendar for next summer!
