Heartfelt Appreciation for Dr. Helfet and His Remarkable Team

I am writing to extend my deepest gratitude and sincere appreciation to Dr. David Helfet and his exceptional team - Ethan and Alison - for the extraordinary care, compassion, and expertise they have provided me throughout my medical journey at HSS.

When I made the decision to come to HSS an arrangement facilitated through the government of my home country, the United Arab Emirates, I was profoundly impressed and reassured to receive a call from Dr. Helfet even before my arrival. During that call, he clearly summarized the anticipated management plan, explained the steps he would follow, and offered sincere reassurance. This gesture meant a great deal to me. It immediately eased my anxiety and confirmed that I would be in safe hands.

When I first arrived at HSS in June 2024, I was experiencing profound disappointment, emotional distress, and physical limitations following severe polytrauma and multiple fractures sustained in a motor vehicle accident in my home country. Compounding my condition was the fact that my initial surgery done back home had not been ideal. Seeking hope and proper treatment, I made the decision to come to HSS for further evaluation and possible revision surgery.

From the moment I met Dr. Helfet and his wonderful, respectful team, I felt a renewed sense of optimism. I vividly remember their warm smiles during my first consultation, smiles that brought me comfort and hope at a time when I was deeply uncertain about my future. Their reassurance and confidence allowed me to believe once again that walking and returning to my normal life were possible.

Thanks to their skill, dedication, and unwavering support, I was able to stand on my feet again, walk, and return to my life and career as a young female physician. The atmosphere in their office always felt like family. Whether interacting with Dr. Helfet, Ethan, or Alison, I consistently experienced kindness, patience, understanding, and readiness to help in every way.

Even after I returned home last year, the team continued to follow my progress remotely an extraordinary gesture that reflects their exceptional commitment to patient care. This year, I returned for an additional surgery with Dr. Helfet, and once again I was welcomed by the same warmth and professionalism that had made such a profound difference in my recovery.

Following my most recent evaluation, I was referred to another surgeon for foot and ankle management. This experience allowed me to truly appreciate the exceptional standard of care provided by Dr. Helfet and his team. Their unique combination of unparalleled surgical expertise, exceptional communication, empathy, and an ability to make patients feel safe and supported is truly incomparable.

I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Jane, who has consistently been helpful in coordinating and booking my appointments.

As both a physician and a patient, I have learned immensely from them. They have demonstrated how compassionate communication, attentive listening, respect, and continuous support can significantly improve a patient’s overall well-being and healing experience.

No matter how much I write, it will never be enough to fully express my gratitude toward Dr. Helfet, Ethan, and Alison. The care I received from them stands apart from all other surgical teams I have encountered at HSS. I will continue to return to them whenever possible, as their professionalism, empathy, and dedication are genuinely exceptional.
