For the past few years my arthritic right hip has been on a path of pain. I was struggling with walking and my back was hurting as well. I realized that this wasn’t going to get better on its own. Luckily I know a few medical professionals and I was recommended to see Dr. McLawhorn. It was a no brainer choice. I experienced a fantastic journey from the start. You deal with everyone at HSS and quickly realize they are all at the top of their game. True pros who care about you. I am out of pain and quickly recovering. Highly recommend.

May 5, 2025:

It’s been about 18 months since my hip was replaced by Dr McLawhorn. If I go back about 12 years I had started to notice some mild pain in my hip that I could easily ignore. After awhile I eventually got an X-ray that revealed some arthritic activity but it wasn’t an emergency at that time. Fast forward to 2023 and it’s summertime and we are at the Jersey shore with family and grandsons for a week and I am suffering in pain. They wanted to walk the boardwalk and I could barely keep up. My quality of life had suddenly become this is not funny and it’s not going to resolve itself. Let’s do some research let’s talk to a friend of a friend who is an RN and had her hip replacement by Dr McLawhorn at HSS. Good enough for me!

I was not going to take any chances and if the number one orthopedic hospital was forty miles away, it was a no brainer. Dr McLawhorn and his team were fantastic. I also want to acknowledge Alex Roux, Dr McLawhorn’s office manager whose professionalism was outstanding and immensely helpful with everything. She is very special and I am deeply grateful. I really had no idea what to expect in terms of recovery other than what had been explained to me. On my first visit to HSS I quickly realized that every employee I crossed paths with was on their game, I mean everyone.

This was the real deal and I was glad I had chosen this place for my new hip. After my surgery which went perfectly I recovered quickly without incident. The discomfort was very minimal and you are given meds that take care of any pain safely. The pain I was in prior to surgery was intense, after was a world of difference. Now, I have zero hip pain and life is good. My left hip is good however if it needed to be replaced I would choose the same path in a second with no hesitation.
