Words can’t express how grateful I am for Dr. Fred Cushner and HSS. Dr. Cushner is an outstanding physician. He does not judge his patients by their appearance. Dr. Cushner did my total knee replacement on April 7,2023. I have serve rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis where I needed to have my knee replaced. I have been dealing with knee issues ever since I was 20 years old. I was told back then I would need a knee replacement. In the past I had been to several orthopedic joint replacement surgeons. My orthopedic surgeon doesn’t do joint replacements. So he referred me to Dr. Cushner. From the time I met him, Dr. Cushner has been very attentive, understanding, supportive, honest, caring, knowledgeable, trustworthy and professional. At one point I had given up on having my knee replaced because doctors in the past has judged me due to my age, rheumatoid arthritis and weight. I am a 43-year-old woman who has a young daughter in high school where it would be hard for me to even attend my daughter's school performances because of my knees. It was very hard for me to sit or stand for long and try to do my daily work performances. I see a team of doctors now who even ask me how come I don’t apply for disability. Right now, that’s a big no for me. I know that I am only about a month out from my knee replacement surgery, but Dr. Cushner has given me hope again. My knee process is amazing for a patient that has rheumatoid arthritis. My recovery may be slower than a patient that doesn’t have rheumatoid arthritis, but I am truly blessed and grateful to have Dr. Cushner as my surgeon there. THANK YOU HSS FOR ALLOWING ME TO BE A PATIENT OF THE HOSPITAL.
