I am a happy veteran of the first-class care at HSS. After a successful hip replacement surgery in 2012 at HSS, I developed problems with both knees. Hiking and backpacking are passions of mine so I was facing a major loss. I am so grateful that I could turn to Dr. Anil Ranawat at HSS to support me every "step of the way" back onto the trail. He started with less invasive procedures and injections that insured that I was not completely off the trail and then proceeded to a partial knee replacement when it became clear that it would give me my best outcome. I had the partial knee replacement on the left knee in November 2014 and an arthroscopic procedure on a torn meniscus in the right knee scheduled at the same time. I was home the next day. Five months after surgery, I can hike back into wilderness spots that I could only dream of getting to before. It means so much to me that when I enter the doors of HSS for a procedure I do not have to second guess the care I am receiving. I can relax knowing that the staff at all levels of HSS is at the top of their game. I like the fact that Dr. Ranawat's focus is on a variety of interventions to support my function. I get the sense that he clearly cares about me getting back on the trail. His office staff and associates do their best to make me feel comfortable.
