I was referred to Dr. Sink last summer after three failed surgeries had left me stuck on crutches for eight months. I was a serious dressage rider and had taken two gap years to ride full time after college. I ended up missing out on most of that second year, and while Dr. Sink made it clear that our goal for surgery was to get me back to walking, I still had aspirations of returning to compete at the top level of my sport. I had a PAO the week of my medical school orientation and I was able to make it in to class two weeks later. By six months, I had returned to riding, spinning, and was able to walk more than five miles a day. Now at a year post op, my hip feels better than I ever imagined it would. I can run, ride three horses a day, and am hoping to compete at the Grand Prix level this fall. I can't thank Dr. Sink, Katrina, Jenna, and their whole team enough. Riding was my life before I got hurt. To go from being a full-time athlete to being unable to walk without crutches was really tough and I'm so incredibly grateful that I've been able to return to the sport I love.
